Recent Member Achievements<\/h5>\n

Our members engage in many activities besides the 99s. CFII Peg Ballou (Ballou Skies Aviation) has been a flight instructor for twelve years and recently graduated several students: Private pilot Zach in May, in June: Mitchel CFI and Darren PP. Her daughter commercial pilot Rachel just gave an introductory flight to another gal. Her son James is an airline pilot. So, of course, Peg and 49 1\/2 Sam\u2019s recent 45th wedding anniversary involved flying. They flew to Port Clinton for dinner at an Italian restaurant. Peg and Sam also run a pheasant game farm so often transport chicks in their planes.<\/p>\n

Jun Oikawa is in Stage Two of Commercial Training and has a family but found time to volunteer at the Air Race Classic stop at Newark-Heath Airport in June. She was pushing planes and taking pictures of the racers.<\/p>\n

Jun and Wendy Hollinger, the stop coordinator.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Jun and the Ladies of the Plains Race Team, Christy White and Melinda Clemens. The other volunteer\u2019s identity is unknown.<\/p>\n

On June 20th Jun gave her first passenger a ride. Guess who! Yes, her 49 1\/2 Rich Wagner and they had a mini date. Then, on her July 1st birthday Rich surprised Jun with an amazing VFR sectional wall d\u00e9cor which was made by Rich. See below:<\/p>\n

The lights show the current weather at the airports Jun has actually flown to and the ones on her bucket list. The system connects to the internet weather source and updates every ten minutes. The lights show the current weather at each airport. Right now, it is set up this way (but the colors can be changed in the future): Green for VFR, Blue for marginal VFR, Red for IFR, Purple for low IFR, Yellow for winds stronger than 15 knots, and flickering white lights for lightning in the area. As Jun explores different airports in the future, they will add more light bulbs. What an extraordinary idea!<\/div>\n
